The nomadic tribes of the Plains considered the Winter Camp their true home. The size of a camp depended on the abundance of firewood and water, as well as food and shelter for the horses. Small circles of tipis could stretch for miles consisting of several friendly tribes gathered together. the Winter Camp was a time of rest and happiness with stories told, work done at a leisurely pace and news exchanged.
